Fries

Fries are one of the amazing tasty pleasures of food when cooked correctly. What I mean by that is have you ever eaten NYF fries in silver city and you say wow these fries are really good but, then you get a little deeper in the cup and you go ask for a refund. That’s what I mean. If you ever come over to my house and we have burgers or something I will make my famous French fries and those are good fries. Once I had a couple of friends over in the summer and I made some fries and it took more time to make the fries then to eat them. There are two general kinds of potatoes that you see almost every day. Those potatoes are white potatoes and sweet potatoes. I prefer the white potato more then the sweet potato but my brother is the opposite. For me the best kind of ketchup is a ketchup named hunts but you can only get that ketchup in the states. In stead of always deep frying your fries you can bake your fries in the oven at 350ºF. I prefer eating my fries deep fried because I love the taste of the oil you cook it with. I use corn oil to deep fry my fries.

Cookies

There are many different kinds of cookies in the world, such as peanut butter cookies, cinnamon cookies, sugar cookies and many more tasty cookies. You can buy cookies at the store premade were you have to put in the oven, some that are already made to pop in your mouth and you have to buy the ingredients at the store for homemade. In my opinion I think that homemade cookies are the best tasting cookies. Except for the time that me and my friends were chilling at my house and my mom said let's make some sugar cookies. So we all helped her to make the cookies and when we were all done we put them in the oven till they got golden brown. Once they were done we started to eat them and said eww there is no sugar in these sugar cookies. True story we still talk about that even today. There are also cookies for tradition. In my family my mother makes birds nest cookies once a year they are really good. Do you have any cookie traditions? Cookies are also great for presents. You can put the cookies in a container and send them to people you love. They are also great for dessert when you have enough for everybody.

Steak

Many of you, like me love to eat steak. Steak is one of the best tasting meats when it's cooked correctly. For me the way I prepare steak is to put a layer of Montreal steak spice on each side. Sometimes I'll go on the internet and look for a marinade sauce and make that, but every time I make something from the internet I think that the Montreal steak spice is always better. I don’t know how you make it but, for me I prepare the steak with the spice and I turn the bbq on at 400°, once the bbq is at 400° throw your steak on and cook it. Now if you weren’t born yesterday you should know what medium rare is or rare or well done. Now it's ok if you don’t know what it is, but it's how red you want your meat in the middle. For me I think that medium rare is the best way to cook your steak but everybody has there own opinion. If you are like me and like to eat your steak with steak sauce to make it better you can either go on the internet and make one or go buy one. In my opinion for the steak sauce Heinz 57 is the best and the one in the states A1 steak sauce is horrible for meat/steak.

Salads

There are many varieties of salads: oil and vinegar, caser salad, potato salad, macaroni salad, peanut salad, ginger salad, green salad, jello salad and of course greek salad. For the people who have eaten at my house and have tried my moms salad they have said that it is so good that it could be in a restaurant, if you know my mom you would know that she works at St. Edmond. One day she was making salad for her class for a reason unknown and all the kids said that it could be in a restaurant. As I was saying before there are many different salads like potato salad. Potato salad is my least favourite salad for some reason I don’t know why but I just don’t like the taste. The best salads are between caser salad and oil and vinegar. They are both my favourite. If I had to choose between one or the other I would chose the oil and vinegar because you could have regular oil and vinegar or balsamic vinegar. My uncle makes the best balsamic vinegar. To make caser salad take the leaves and put them into a bowl, next put the white caser sauce in the bowl with the leaves and add the croutons to the bowl (if you want really good Cesar salad make sure the croutons are garlic and butter) and if you like you can add bacon bits.

Clam pasta

My favourite food in the whole world since I was ten years old is clam pasta. I can't believe how much I love clam pasta; the taste is so amazing that every time I think of clam pasta I drool a little. There are two variations to clam pasta, one with red sauce and on with no red sauce. My favourite is the pasta without the red sauce, even thought that the one with red sauce is very good. To make red sauce clam pasta start out like any other sauce with olive oil in a frying pan and add the onion and fry them next add the garlic and of course fry them and add chili peppers and again fry them. Add a can of clams with the water juice from the can. If you're lucky like me maybe you'll find some razor clams. Next add some tomatoes and then boil them two to three minutes and then add some white wine and simmer it for 2 - 3 minutes and add 5 mls of red wine vinegar. In a separate bowl, boil some linguini and when it's all ready add to the frying pan and heat for one minute. To make regular clams it's much easier then the red sauce clam pasta. Start out with fried garlic golden brown in olive oil, add rinsed baby clams, parsley, lemon juice, half cup of water and then add salt and pepper, after all that simmer for five minutes. Pour over cooked linguini noodles and serve.

No red sauce clam pasta
2 cloves Chopped garlic
Quarter cup of olive oil
1 can rinsed baby clams
Quarter cup Chopped parsley
Juice of one lemon
Half cup of water
And salt and pepper

Red sauce clam pasta
3 cloves of chopped garlic
Quarter cup of olive oil
1 can of clams
Sprinkle of chile peppers
2 onions

Tuna pasta

Ever since I was a child my mom always made amazing food. One of those amazing foods is tuna pasta. Now a lot of people do not like tuna but would love tuna pasta. I'm sure of that because every time one of my friends comes over they thank my mom for making such a wonderful dinner. I hope that one day everybody I know will be able to try such a wonderful dinner. Any way let's get back on track, it is very simple to make tuna pasta. Simply start out with a jar of red pasta sauce, then in a pan put some olive oil with one clove of garlic and put some onions in the pan and wait till they get golden brown after that put the jar of red sauce and wait till it starts to boil, after that strain the water from the tuna can. Then throw it in the boiling water and put the heat on low, wait till the tuna cooks and make your tuna pasta. The first time I made tuna pasta I did not chop up the tuna (thought it wasn’t bad) it was in big chunks and didn’t taste as good. Make sure you enjoy the wonder full meal of tuna pasta. The taste will amaze you.

Noodles

Of course everybody knows what noodles are, but does anybody know how there made or how to cook them. I know I do and you will too after reading this blog if you didn't know. Now there are also many different kinds of noodles; and some can be used in different recipes, like manicotti noodles witch you put cheese in and roll up or lasagna noodles, the big long noodles. My Nona use to make gnocchi with me when I was very young. She would make her gnocchi with her special ingredients and when they became the texture of what they should be, she would make little balls and then take her fork and make an imprint of the fork on the gnocchi. To cook the noodles of penne for an example; you start out by boiling water and when the water is done boiling take a table spoon of salt and put it in the water for a few seconds the water will stop boiling but when it starts again to boil you should put in the noodles. After five minutes of boiling and stirring the noodles check to see if there ready by taking one of the noodles out and put it under cold water and see if it's ready. If it's not ready keep checking it. Have you ever wondered how to eat them with a fork and spoon well it's simple. Simply take one utensil in to one hand and the other in the other hand and swirl the fork in the pasta and put it on your spoon and twirl it even more on your spoon and put it in you mouth.

Red sauce pasta

For generations the Tramontozzi have made an amazing blend of pasta sauce. It has been passed down from generations; starting with my great grandmother to my grandmother to my mother and then to me. Someday I when I’m blessed of children of my own I will show them the Tramontozzi secret. (The real secret?) There are many variations to the red pasta sauce but today I will only be talking about the red pasta sauce. (What I mean by variations is different things you do with the sauce.) To start out you must have all your ingredients. Those ingredients are one onion, 3 cloves of garlic, olive oil and tomatoes. To make the best pasta sauce ever, you start out by taking out a pan and putting it on the fire and putting the olive oil in and also the garlic and the onions. Wait till the onions and the garlic get golden brown and then throw the tomatoes when there golden brown. Let it cook all day on low heat for best results. Make sure you stir it so the amazing sauce it doesn't get burnt. When the sauce is done cooking you should strain the sauce so that you don’t have any tomato seeds in the sauce; and that’s how to make the sauce. You can also make a lot of the sauce and can it in jars and the will fresh forever. Now you know the Tramontozzi secret.

Rice crispies

Ever since I was a kid my mom and I use to make rice crispies squares. She told me to count 30 marshmallows and throw them in the big yellow bowl. (When I was five six years old my friend Morgan and I loved marshmallows. Every time she would come to my house we would eat a lot of marshmallows. For some reason we were crazy about them. I remember all the times that me and my friend have shared every time that I eat a marshmallow or think of marshmallow.) I use to always sneak a marshmallow or two from the bag when I was counting the marshmallows for my mom. I remember that she use to put the big yellow bowl in the microwave for 30 seconds. That would make the marshmallows very soggy like the clouds in the air. Later we would add the rice crispies as if we were pouring rain in the clouds. Then we would stir the rice crispies in the marshmallows and if you’re a five year old kid that's pretty hard. But it was still fun because I was able to lick / eat the spoon. Now that's something you will remember for the rest of your life. My mom would turn on the stove for the temperature it is suppose to be and I would watch the rice crispy batch cook in the oven. When I was 14 I went to my friends’ house and we made it but the thing we didn't do was put it in the stove but it was just better because it wasn't hard. Another time I went over to my cousin's house to baby sit and he had made Peanut butter rice crispy squares they were amazing. I love rice crispies and I always will.

Homemade Perogies

Dough: 1 cup Sour cream
2cups 1/2 Flour
Salt & Pepper

Filling: 6 Potatoes
1 Onions (chopped)
half a cup of Shredded Cheddar Cheese
Salt

Ever since I was a kid, my mom use to always make my family and I perogies for dinner. The first time I ever took a bite of a perogie I felt like I was in heaven. The cheese from inside the perogie bursts out like a volcano eruption; it was also very hot so it burned the tip of my mouth. For some reason I eat my perogies with Hunts ketchup; I don’t know if you eat it like that but I know that there the best like that. Some people like my brother enjoy their perogies with onions; not my idea of a perfect perogie but whatever floats your boat. Like everybody knows you don’t have to make perogies from homemade you can go buy it at the groceries store. The first time I tried to cook perogies I had no help and all the ingredients were all over the place. The flour was flying in the air, the sour cream was on the ground and the salt and pepper was in my hair weird enough. My experience was very short because I don’t like perogies anymore.

Staphylococcus Aureus

Hey again today I will be talking about a bacteria/infection named “staphylococcus aureus”. Now before I tell you what the bacteria/infection is I will tell you were you can get the bacteria from. You can get it in foods with high protein, custards, cream filled backed goods, ham, poultry and meat products, potato and other salads. The bacteria/infection staphylococcus can cause many diseases. There are over 30 different types of staphylococcus infect humans. Anyone can get the staphylococcus infection, although there are certain people who are more at risk of getting the infection. Those people are newborns, breastfeeding women and people who have diabetes, cancer, vascular disease, and lung disease. The symptoms of the infection are severe nausea, vomiting, cramps, sometimes diarrhoea, prostration. There is no vaccine for the infection because it causes so many different diseases. If there is a minor skin infection, staphylococcus infection can sometimes be diagnosed by looking at the skin infection. If it is a serious infection, the doctors must do some special test in there lab. To treat the infection there is a special antibiotic that you put in your mouth. The symptoms may last 1 - 8 h but usually 2 – 4 hours. I took my information from a book and the website www.medicinenet.com/staph_infection/article.htm

Salmonella Poisoning

Hey again it’s me. In my next few blogs I will be talking about food poisoning and bacteria. For today’s subject I will be talking about the most heard of bacteria. Did you know that salmonella is a bacteria? Well it is. Salmonella can sometimes be found in products such as eggs, chicken, unprocessed milk, meat and water. There are also some pets that contain the bacteria of salmonella. They are turtles and birds. What kind of infection does salmonella cause? Salmonella attacks the stomach and intestines. In some cases, the bacteria may enter the veins that carry water and protein to the blood, and of course blood. Salmonella attacks all age groups and both sexes. Children, the elderly and people who are already sick are much more likely to get a serious infection. What are the symptoms of salmonella poisoning? Some of the symptoms are diarrheoa or constipation, headaches, stomach cramps, nausea and vomiting, fever, possibly blood in the faeces. When should you contact a doctor? If the patient has diarrhoea for more than 24 hours, if it is frequent and intense, if the patient has severe stomach cramps, if there is blood in the faeces and if the patient has fever of 38oC or higher and dehydration. To make sure that you do not get salmonella poisoing make sure that your food is cooked thoroughly. All of the facts that are in this text are based on a text by Christel Bech, nurse. You can find the information that is in this text and more at; http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/health_advice/facts/salmonella.htm

Banana Bread!!!

Hey it’s me again just wanted to tell you guys about the time that I made banana bread. Now not a lot of people like banana bread because some people put raisins or nuts or other nasty junk like that but I assure you that my banana bread has nothing but bananas and love. This tasty dessert was actually my first recipe that I learned how to do it on my own. It started out that are bananas were about to be thrown out, but I asked my mom if I could make some banana bread. She said sure as long as you clean up your mess. So I started with my almost rotten bananas (that’s when bananas are at their best for banana bread) and some sugar and butter and whatever else is in the recipe and started to mix the dry ingredients with the dry ingredients and the wet ingredients with the wet ingredients. Then I mixed it all the ingredients together. After it was all mixed, I put it in a pan to put in the oven at 350°F. After it was finished cooking, I made a special sauce that goes fantastic for the banana bread, you need to put the sauce on when the banana bread is still warm and poke holes in the bread so that the sauce will go in the bread. My pants are full of drool. Well have a yummy day!

My Meatloaf

Hey readers, today I’m going to tell you about the first time I made meatloaf. It was about 5:30; time to start dinner. My family was on their way home at the time and my mom called me up and said “Nick when I get home dinner better be on the table or at least in the oven”. My mother suggested that if there is nothing in the house to make, there is a pound of ground beef in the fridge and to make meatloaf. So I went on my computer searching for a recipe like always and found a really good and simple meatloaf recipe. After I got the recipe, I took the ground beef out of a bag and plopped it in to a bowl. I started by adding hunts ketchup, a half of an onion and two eggs. When I started to mix it all up it felt like I was mixing brains. Ewwwww….. So I put the final touches on the meatloaf and put it in a different bowl and threw it in the oven. It’s about 6:05 now and my parents came home and it needed to be in the oven for about another half hour. When it was done it tasted very good but I guess I forgot a very important ingredient and that ingredient was breadcrumbs. So I can’t even imagine how good the meatloaf would taste if I put that ingredient in the meatloaf. Have a yummy day!

My Calzone

Hey guys here with my fifth official blog. Im here to tell you about my experience with my very own calzone. It was during the summer, it was a very sunny day, and I had my friend over, we chilled all day together. So my mom tells me there’s nothing to make and where not going to McDonald’s or any other fast food. I love McDonald’s. So I suggested to my mom that we should have pizza but my friend looks at me and says we should have calzones, at the time I thought that he was a genius cause I love calzones cause there like huge pizza pockets. (Boy im hungry now!) Im pretty sure your hungry now too. So my mom agreed that we would make calzones in the oven. She told us to go and so ingredients in the fridge, for the inside of the calzone. I found some hot dogs, kabassa and some mozzarella cheese and other meat and cheeses. I was amazed of all the stuff I found in the fridge. What would you put in your calzone? Later after I took all are calzones out of the oven, we all looked at are calzones and said were not eating this. So I got to go McDonald’s. Yay me. Have a Yummy day.

Jello popcorn

Hey guys this is blog number six. Today I will be talking about jello popcorn, sounds a little weird though but imagine plain popcorn with a drizzle of jello liquid of any flavour they make, that hardens on the popcorn. You get popcorn covered in jello, which creates the best tasting popcorn you ever had in your life. This is the story of how my brother and I found the recipe. Have you ever tried the rainbow cookies from Mr. Christie? Well my brother and I had just finished a box but we were still hungry. At the time we were also in a phase of popcorn so my brother suggested to go find a recipe for rainbow popcorn. So I did and I printed out a recipe for rainbow popcorn, little did I know that that the rainbow part was jello. So my brother took the recipe I found and we got all the ingredients to make the jello popcorn. So my brother and I made the jello popcorn and it was the best popcorn we ever made or will ever make in our lives. This blog makes me want to go make some jello popcorn, boy my mouth is watering! How about you? Have a yummy day:)

Cooking salmon in the dishwasher

Hey guys, today I am going to comment on a video that I found on youtube, it’s how to make salmon in the dishwasher which I found really cool because you can clean your dishes and cook your food at the same time in the same place. I myself have never tried this, but in the future I know that I will try this. The reason I haven’t tried this yet is because my mom is afraid that the bag will open and that her all her dishes will smell like fish and that there will be a huge mess in her dishwasher. I hope you will try this at home. Do you think your mom would let you try that? Although her recipe doesn’t appear to be appetizing I’m sure that there are better recipes than that, because when I make salmon my family gets it fresh from the groceries store like Zehrs or Cosco. The person in the video took it out of a bag and the salmon didn’t even look good when she put it in the dish washer. So make sure that your salmon is always fresh, and in my opinion cook it the real way in the oven. Have a yummy day:)

Deep fried ice cream

Hey guys welcome to my third official blog. I am on week two of my weekly post as I said before I will be doing two blogs a week and one comment. My experience with deep fried ice cream was very fun. It was the summer time about mid August, I had printed a recipe for deep fried ice cream because I remembered a restaurant named donna maria’s a very good Mexican restaurant that had for a dessert well you guessed it deep fried ice cream. So me and my brother had to prepare the ingredients for the recipe, there was cinnamon and a lot of other very good ingredients. Make sure you have clean hands when you make the little balls of ice cream and when dunk them in the ingredients. Make sure that your balls of ice cream are big because when you dip them with the ingredients and there small you wont get the taste of ice cream you`ll get a taste of a deep cinnamon and the other ingredients. Trust me I’ve made that mistake, im not saying don’t try that but it is a lot better when the ice cream balls are big. I will post the recipe when I have the time to type it and find it. Have a yummy day:)

My experience with Pizza bread

I grew up on my nonna`s pizza bread. When I was a baby, before my teeth came in, my nonna use to make me some pizza bread and give me a piece so I could gnawed on it. Apparently it was my favourite food when I was a baby and is still today. When I was three, my nonna would ask me how many eggs I would want and I use to respond by saying “four five” and she would make me four or five eggs which I would eat with my pizza bread. I used to dunk the bread in the uncooked yolk. It was absolutely delicious. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. The pizza bread recipe has been in our family for many generations. My grandparents came from Italy where the women used to make everything from scratch. There are several ways to make this pizza bread. You can add pizza sauce, spices , cheese, even sugar, believe or not. What a treat that was. I think my nonna was the best cook ever. The recipe that I posted of pizza bread is perfect when cooked at a high heat and cooked golden brown. I rate this recipe a 10 out of 10 stars. Have a yummy day.

Introduction to all blogs

Hello fellow bloggers,
this is my first blog that I have created, I am doing this for my English class. I like doing blogs for school because I get to do my two favourite things and that is to talk about food and have people read about what I write about. In my blogs to come I will include my recipes from my own experiences and some recipes that I have found on the internet and rate the recipes from one to ten stars depending on the taste and quality of the food. The reason I love to cook is that when I was younger I would always be in the kitchen with my mom and I would play and cook dinner with her and now that im older I can cook on my own and enjoy what I make. I have made a variety of bread, deep-frying (fries, hashbrowns and other good stuff), desserts(cookies, brownies, cake, cupcakes and other tasty treats), I have also made some salads with many various topping such as ginger and peanut sauce. In the future I hope people will try the recipes I posts and comment on my blog. Have a yummy day.
